b) Kali kedua - dia org lanyak 329 KM
c) Kali ketiga - dia org lanyak 450 KM.
d) Kali keempat - saya tunggu
e) Kali kelima - saya tunggu
f) Sabtu ni 11/11/2006 - buat temujanji lagi.....

Apa yang berlaku - masa dibengel test okey. Bila balik rumah esoknya asyik mati memanjang.

Cuba telefon beberapa bengkel - malang mereka tak mahu service jika tak pasang dengan mereka.

Inilah gara-gara saya tak siasat quality bengkel - cuma pilih yang termurah.

SOS - komen dan bantuan anda dihargai. p/s Jangan tanya gedget apa yang dipasang....saya tau pandu saja...he he.

salam azmi,

Dulu i pun mengalami masalah yang sama. Drive waja auto.. cuba bayangkan kalu tetiba enjin mati kat jalan, system suma jem.. break tak makan. pernah sekali tu hampir nak langgar kereta kat depan. Satu lagi kalu turn kanan/ kiri, enjin pun mati... tensen memanglah tensen... tp sebab percaya mesti ada penyelesaian kepada masalah tu... SABAR je lah. TAPI lepas 3 kali retuning balik dah ok... sekarang ni dah takde masalah mati2 masa tengah run ngv. dah hampir 4 bulan pakai NGV... memang menjimatkan.. sebulan jimat dalam RM250... tu tak termasuk kalu travel balik johor...

Kalau i cadangkan u pasang TAP, mungkin boleh menyelesaikan masalah ni. atau stepper motor... tapi tak sure kembara ni boleh guna stepper motor atau tidak...

Semoga cepat setel problem u...

Saudara Abu - tempat pasang saya tak nak bagi tau dulu not fair to them. Mungkin kembara saya saja yg ada problem. Ongkosnya RM3900/=. Lain-lain tempat ongkosnya sekitar RM4000/= to RM4500/=. Tapi sekarang saya faham kita tak boleh berpandukan ongkos saja, kita kena tahu apa yang dipasang.... baru nak belajar. Selama ini saya sangka pasang NGV ni macam upgrade komputer saja ..just plug and play. Buat masa ini saya terpaksa guna petrol... Guna NGV masa kereta tak gerak..ie masa tunggu anak balik sekolah. Tuning terlalu rendah.... kalau lepas pedal engin mati.

Dear Azmi,

As you have explained, it is possible that you are driving a Old-model Kembara with couple years in petrol operation. Thus, the problem may be as below:

(a) Dirty Throttle Body
Kembara are known to have very dirty Throttle Body (Butterfly valve in layman's words). Over several years of driving, it is common for Kembara to be low-power and poor idling. The problem is a dirty throttle body. As you have converted your kembara, it is very important that your Throttle Body MUST be cleaned before NGV installation.

The cost of Kembara Throttle Body cleaning services is about RM60.00 at any workshop. The cleaning service include cleaning of throttle body (all metal areas) and the Air-Cond Vacuum outlet. After this cleaning, your NGV Kembara should be more stable and easy to tune-up.

If this does not help, the next step should be taken.

(b) Open the Throttle Valve (Butterfly valve) through a Manual Screw.
You can adjust the Throttle Valve to increase RPM to 1,000 with a Manual Screw at the Throttle Position Sensor area. It is best that you use a Timing Advance Processor to have better Power performance and higher fuel mileage.

Try cleaning the throttle body, and bring it back to your Installer. The problem should be reduced. If it persist, write to the forum again and tell us what other problems are your facing.drx

Any advice !!
Saya sudah service Throttle Body (TB). Sepatutnya last Saturday hantar ke installer untuk tune-up tetapi terpaksa ditangguh atas sebab-sebab berikut:-

a) Last Saturday hujan lebat
Should i ignore the comment. Jika saya nak highlight komen tu - apakah pendekatan terbaik yang perlu saya ambil. Nota: - Makanik ( MR A )adalah kenalan Installer (MR B). Dan Mr B tahu yang saya akan hantar service TB kepada Mr A.

tq - Azmi - pasang dulu baru belajar - Beginner don't follow me.

Dear Azmi,

You have cleaned your Throttle Body (by Mr A). Good job. At least, we know now that it is not a TB problem or (tuberclosis on NGV, that is what we refer in our industry). With Mr A's help, you have found that problem can be located to the mixer at this present diagnosis.

Anyhow, here is what you can ask Mr B to do.

To repair a 'gas bocor' situation as you described, we recommend that you use Heat-Tolerant Silicone Sealant (Auto-type), commonly use to seal carburetor gaskets or other heated areas.

Step By Step to 'Avoid Air Leakage' or (Halang Masuk Angin):

Target area: Inside part of the mixer that joins with the Throttle Body (or we called this TB Adapter).

Objective: To prevent outside air to enter your TB Adapter and disrupting the vacuum pressure to operate the CNG regulator (a vacuum-operated device as well). Not 'Bocor Gas'.

Problem: Air Leak-In at TB Adparter - You will experience disruption to the vacuum pressure and of course, the regulator misfunctions. If the regulator is disrupted, your idling will be unstable and pick-up is poor. Foot to pedal response is also often very poor.

Solution: Put Heat-Tolerant Silicone Gel around the TB Adapter surface which touches the Throttle Body. Make sure that there is no unsealed gap of silicone. Do not put too much as it can be overspilled and be sucked into engine later on. Let it dry up over 15 - 30 minutes before you start up your vehicle.

Alternative: You can find a O-ring that matches the size of the Throttle Body of your Kembara, but it can be very difficult to find. Jalan Ipoh O-ring shop should be the place that you go.

If your problem still persist, please come and we try to help you directly. Send an email to admin and he will let you know who to contact.drx

Dear Sir

Thanks for your fruitful response. As per your suggestion to apply “Heat-Tolerant Silicone Gel around the TB Adapter surface, which touches the Throttle Body “.

I think the mechanic has done it - base on this assumption: -

a) I saw some sealant has been applied to that particular area/ surface. (Previously none)
b) Tuning sound has somewhat improved – now the engine will still run without me having to apply pressure to accelerator (tak payah tekan minyak/gas lagi), but the car masih bergegar dan masih mati-mati jugalah masa moving.

Giving the benefit of the doubt to the installer I assume this problem (engine mati) will be solved soon. I know he is trying very hard to improve my car’s performance. But the only obstacle - my free time is only on Saturday since my wife does not agree with me leaving the car behind. You know lah how many KM they drove my car previously. (Actually that Kembara is for my wife since her traveling distance is up to 80 KM per day as compared to me - 20 KM per day).

Anyway, although with the assumption that the hiccup will be resolved soon, I still have another major task / challenge to overcome. I.e.

To boost up my wife’s confidence level to drive using NGV. For the past few weeks she has found it a serious nightmare to use NGV, and her confidence level has dropped from zero to negative.

With that in mind, I am thinking of proceeding to the qualified installer to overcome all the issues. I don’t mind paying any reasonable charge in order to gain back my wife’s confidence level towards NGV.

After this coming Saturday (my appointment with the installer), regardless as to whether the problem will be solved or not, I think I still need to seek your professional help in order to boost up my wife’s confidence in using NGV. I am going to send email to admin soon on this matter and will bring my wife to see the professional concerned.

If this task fails (to boost up her confidence level), I will be left with no choice but to drive the Kembara. By taking this alternative I would not be gaining much benefit in terms of savings since my traveling distance is only 25% compare to her.

Thanks –

Dear Azmi,

It is clear that you are on a Kembara (adventure) in NGV, just like all of us did. Philip Ng knew this through his own experience, and developed this forum to benefit all, husband, wife and children. Just make sure that your Kembara is safe to operate, particularly for your wife as she is always on her own - 80km x 2.

Your wife's confidence is much associated with Current-Bad Experience and Lack of Knowledge. Here is our non-technical diagnosis:

(a) Current Bad Experience - The Kembara often has its engine stalled during traffic lights. Start-up maybe rather slow and it can be a panicky situation, even for guys like us. Other occasions, stepping the brake can lead to a stalled engine. In short, this is a poor introduction to NGV, and it should have been avoiding if the Installer did a quality installation job, and give a good User Tutorial in advance.

Come and drive our cars operating on NGV, feel the engine start-up, driving around slowly and highways, braking and cornering and refilling gas experience will re-introduce much needed positive NGV experience to newcomers or beginners. That we can always assist you there, after all driving a Properly Installed NGV car is a good and cheap GasPhobia Therapy.

(b) Lack of Knowledge - You and your wife need to know what really happen to your car, your Installer's Standards, its problems and solutions. You need to know how to drive and operate a NGV Kembara or have a crash course on User Tutorial.

In a nutshell, User Tutorial is about veteran NGV Users sharing with you and your wife on the methods of Gas Leakage detection, Valve Shut-off Procedures, Switch-over procedures, Emergency By-pass (if NGV fails), Users' Do and Don't, which are simple and easy to remember. And it is A Must and IT IS FREE!

Hopefully so, you and your wife will gain back confidence and all the value of money from NGV as we all did and are still doing.drx

Hi azmi3388,

You may want to have your car fine-tune by Cikgu. Below is the location map to Cikgu’s workshop.

It is not difficult to find this place if you know how to go to Puchong’s Jaya Jusco(IOI Mall) from LDP (follow the instruction from here http://www.ngvcommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=81) , His workshop opened on Saturday and Sunday.

Let me know if you have difficulty to find this place, I can meet you somewhere in Puchong.

Hi cucubatman % harry - komen saya we can jimat duit dengan NGV tapi silap2 install NGV nyawa kitapun boleh jimat juga.Orang lain boleh hidup hingga umur 70 or 80 tahun kita hidup setakat 7 atau 8 hari selepas pasang NGV ( maksud i jika improper installation ) My statement - based on pengalaman 2 minggu driving guna NGV . Ada baiknya jangan tergesa2 nak convert, dapatkan sebanyak maklumat yang boleh daripada mereka yang betul2 pakar.
Install NGV tak semudah install h/w computer ie plug and play.

tq

Hello all

Just came back from temujanji dengan one of our NGV expert. Perjalanan 20 KM plus yang memakan masa hampir 1 jam (due to heavy jam) look like amat berbaloi. According to him my kembara punya problem can be rectified and the major problem are “workmanship” as well as banyak sangat kahwin campur.

NGV doesn’t seem to like of the idea of kahwin campur as many of our Malaysian have been practicing. Melayu kahwin China. China kahwin India and so on.

Anyway good news for me and my wife I am planning to visit his workshop on this coming Wednesday 27/12/2006.

I will be posting any outcome then.

Dismantle NGV for good?? Why??anyway it is your decision. Basically, if happened it is a conversion kit invloved then it is an easy job. Make sure the original set up for gasoline especially ECU setting is install properly. The gas piping for NGV is dismantle completely and original wiring harness for gasoline is checked completely.

To be frank, the natural gas behavior is lighter than gasoline. Therefore, if happened the Gas tank leak, the gas just mixed with air and no combustion. The gas need very high temperature to initiate combustion.Compared with gasoline, it is heavy and once the tank leak, the the gasoline which is liquid medium will mix with air and combust easily.

So, make sure the original gasoline piping is checked and I am sure you need to retune your ECU (electronic control unit) or sometime there call it (EMS)engine management system to original setting.

I hope this help you.

Dear All and brother matkay

My NGV expert brother managed to persuade and convince me and my wife not to proceed with dismantling it. After serious thinking and debating we decide to give a last try. So on 27/12/2006 (yesterday) I have sent my kembara to his workshop. There is something interesting that I want to share with the community especially for the new comer.

My comparison might be difficult for those who don’t understand and interpreted “Bahasa Kiasan” - But I know Karam Singh Walia – faham.

Workmanship - My kembara ibaratkan macam I baru bangun dari tidur belum mandi, belum basuh muka, belum gosok gigi dan belum sikat rambut – tapi sudah mengadap cermin. BUT compare to the one that I have seen from his workshop, ibaratkan macam I sudah siap sedia untuk ke pejabat, siap dengan neck tie sekali.

Banyak lagi yang I want to share – I think very important to the new comer but a bit lazy to type. Bila free I will post to the forum. Tapi kena cek dulu mungkin dah ada kat forum.

Back to my kembara – now dah boleh drive guna NGV. I dah drive sejauh 72.6 KM - since yesterday only mati sekali sahaja – masa U turn. At 72.6 KM tangki gas sudah kosong ie lampu merah dah menyala – WOW minum kuat !!! satu tangki penuh hanya boleh jalan 70 KM..

My wife still don’t want to drive coz tak ada power especially masa nak take off from traffic light kereta masih lompat-lompat.

As per today 28/12/2006 9.35 am. Kita orang dah kena honk 3 kali kat traffic light coz of our slow moving, and satu kali kena honk masa nak keluar dari parking - kereta terhinjut-hinjut. Anyway as a start we are happy with the out come. A lot more need to be done in the next visit. As mentioned by my expert brother as per yesterday I am in the initial stage of physiotherapy.

Thanks

AZMI

Azmi,

My personal Opinion.

If U dismantle and patah balik to petrol I think U will be the rearest one in Malaysia.

Just imagine if many of the taxi drivers follow your step?

I think and believed that U choose the wrong convertion centre and at the same time U are not ready to be an NGV user.

We hope U will try to reconsider your option and perhaps arrange to bring your car to DR X work shop at Jln Ipoh KL, to asses the situation. I am sure DrX will be able to diagnose the problems and provide a solution palatable to your budget.

Please arrange to call him or contact Phillip Ng (0122231005)to arrange for the check up.

Hi Azmi,

Very sad too, to read your experience with NGV, but don't give up. My advice to you is to follow

Mr.Harry's opinion to meet Dr.X. Based on my experience with Dr.X for my Volvo,

He had diagnosed and found that my Stromberg carburetor doesn't allow NGV

Gas intake for combustion during intial engine startup.

I'm in the midst of writing about the fault and attached with some photos

and diagrams for my Volvo. Will be sent soon in this forum.

Quite busy with my studies caused the delay. Azmi,I beleive that you'll

get a better solution for your Kembara soon.

Dear Azmi,

Your Kembara is well now on idling, but weak on the high speed RPM. Please have your Stepper Motor (ECU) re-calibrated with any Autogas ECO Installer. The Stepper Motor needs to be reprogram to open up more volume of gas for your High Speed requirements(above 1,200 RPM). Currently, stepper motor is still not working well, although the idling problem has been eliminated for good. We are glad that you and your wife have decided against dismantling NGV, since your car is somewhat drive-able now. Your first part of problem is medicated by completing the session on physiotherapy of NGV Installation Injury. As per now onwards, you need to go for psychotherapy in reprogramming your Stepper Motor and EFI-switch over unit to have the right mindset to perform.

Problem - Kembara:
Kembara's Installer is careless (and perhap NGV Untrained) that they have installed Low Pressure hose (too long - about 4 feet), and the Stepper is too far (3ft out of 4) away from the CNG Regulator. Hence, the Stepper Motor and CNG Regulator were working against each other. The common symptom is Zero drive-bility, particularly the car will be plaqued by a continuous engine stalling. And we have found another defect - that the mixer did not have the proper air-tight sealant, whereas it only had a masking tape which has melted away by the engine heat.

Solution - Kembara:
It is advisable that all Low Pressure Hose (CNG Regulator to Mixer) to be within 2 feet in length. For unavoiable long Low Pressure Hose (in preventing huge modification work), you should keep the Stepper Motor unit as close to the CNG regulator as possible. The Kembara's 4 feet hose was reduced to 2.5 feet, while the Stepper Motor was placed at only 10 inches away from the CNG regulator). Kembara Owner (Azmi) had hands-on training to seal-up his mixer and he did an excellent job at that.

Outcome - Kembara:
The car started up and basic base Idling tuning was done on the Buggati CNG regulator. No tuning was done on the Stepper Motor as the Digital Programming Unit was not available at our perusal. The car was driven to refill gas, operating on NGV-mode. No engine stalling all the way. Unfortunately, High Speed RPM (above 1,200rpm) requires several second to be obtained, allowing time for the Stepper Motor respond (uncalibrated).

What is Next
Kembara's Azmi need to send his car for Digital Programming on his Autogas ECO Stepper Motor for efficient High Speed RPM requirements. Perhaps, his original Installer is able to assist on this matter. Or, they are able to provide Interface USB/COM2 cable for us to assist.

After that, we strongly recommend that you consider a Re-Wiring exercise to be done on your car. There are too many loosely connected wires, poor connectivity and careless wire terminations. These wires will NOT withstand the extreme engine heat, and it will cause other electronic problem later on.

For others with NGV Problems:

Please DO NOT give up on NGV due to your experience with poor Installation & terrible After Sales Services by frequently Untrained, Unprofessional, Unskilled, Unlicensed, or Unethical Installers. Yes, we acknowledge that NGV Installation Problems is fast becoming an epidemic or virus outbreak these days. Nobody seems to be able to avoid this virus infection, except for a couple of vehicles that had immunity as they may have made the correct choice of Installer.

If you are one of the infected vehicle, please seek treatment immediately before it becomes a critical problem. As for potential NGV Users, you are strongly advise to seek confirmation with Admin of this NGV Community. You can help us all contain this unnecessarily viral outbreak of NGV Installation Problems by being knowledgeable - 'What NGV Installation should be.'

With deepest gratitude to everybody at NGV Community (particularly Philip, Harry, CLKong, Danesh), your confidence with us is very encouraging. Over this 2 weeks, we had a stream of problematic NGV vehicles being treated and medicated. In fact, we are running out of NGV medicines (NGV Spare Parts & components) in treating over 27+ vehicle in two weeks. And there seems to be still more patients to come after New Year as the word is out that there is a 'Doctor in town'. It was supposed to be well-kept secret.

Anyway, thank you again to Philip, Harry, Danesh and Azmi3388.drx

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HARI RAYA HAJI from us at NGV Information Team.

Thanks Saudara Matkay – so far I can drive my kembara using NGV but with low power especially during take off at the traffic light and a bit jerking during reversing and also kuat makan gas. One full tank can only survive for an average 70 KM. This due to Stepper Motor respond (uncalibrated). I am facing difficulties to find the right supplier of the so called “stepper motor” since the installer is only ambil upah pasang saja…ha ha baru tau…kena tipu I.

Cari-cari dalam internet pun masih tak jumpa.

Trying to send it for retuning / calibration but the installer giving seribu satu macam excuses.

Below are the most stupid excuses given by him – based on chronology of event since installation dated on 1/10/2006 till last Monday 1/1/2007.

a) En. Azmi – your kembara tiada masalah cuma kena tuning sikit saja lagi.
b) En. Azmi – kembara you mati- mati sebab gas beku, kita kena pasang water heater.
c) En. Azmi – one of the gadget ada problem. Don’t worry masih dalam tempoh warranty, kita akan tukar.
d) En. Azmi – kereta you tiada masalah kita kena hantar untuk retuning semula, lepas itu akan okey.
e) Oh company tempat nak hantar tuning to company besar mereka tak kerja hari sabtu atau ahad. Kita kena hantar on weekdays.
f) Company tempat nak tuning tu dah tak beroperasi lagi.

This installer bukan saja tak belajar nak jadi a good installer tapi dia tak belajar macam mana nak jadi penipu, that’s why dia tak keep track dengan alasan-alasan yang diberikan kepada pelanggan.

I forwardkan semua alasan-alasan yang dia berikan kepada dia. Lepas tu dia sepi tanpa berita.

Look like I kena tukar stepper motor.

TQ
AZMI
