Wow... it has been some time since I last posted here. Wonder how many people will read this post.

Melchers is still going strong in Singapore on CNG. We now operate our new workshop called Autotechnik at the world's largest CNG station in Toh Tuck (which Melchers built for Union Group). It has 46 pumps.

What are the latest updates? In Singapore Transcab taxis is current converting 1000 new Toyota Wish 2.0 using OMVL system. The system is nothing new, but what makes it special is that they are using Type 4 carbon fibre cylinders. Each taxi is fitted with 1x 38 litre and 1x 90 litre cylinder. Total weight is 45kg allowing 21kg of CNG. Total mileage achievable is about 320km.

For quite some time a few years ago, demand for carbon outstripped supply. Now it is the other way around and cost has come down.

I don't think that carbon cylinders will make an entry into Malaysia that quickly, but for Singapore conversions it has now become an option.

Hi Melchers,

The total weight of 45kg & 320km is definitely interesting. How much will the(38 & 90 litres) Type 4 carbon fibre cylinders cost individually in S'pore?

May be too expensive for us to even consider using it in Malaysia for the time being. But, its good to know that a better product is available and, which, may be more affordable in the near future.

Regards,

tnlrandall
